HR ANNOUNCEMENTS
Sick Leave Bank Petition
TO: UTSI REGULAR 12 MONTH FACULTY AND STAFF
At this time, UTSI does not participate in a sick leave bank. However, as
outlined in UT HR Sick Leave Bank policy HRO382, if a signed petition of at
least 20 regular faculty & staff members who accrue sick leave is obtained, the
administration will consider authorizing the establishment of a sick leave bank
for UTSI. In order to participate in the sick leave bank, applicants must have a
sick leave balance of at least six days. Three days will be subtracted from the
employee’s sick leave balance and hours placed in the bank. All sick leave days
contributed to the bank are non-refundable and non-transferable. Also only those
employees who are members of the sick leave bank for at least 30 days are
eligible to apply for sick leave days from the bank. Pre-existing conditions
have other limitations.
For information on enrollment/cancellation, contributions/assessments,
eligibility/application and the granting of sick leave days, see the
UT HR Sick Leave Bank policy HR0382.
After reading the policy, if you are interested in signing a petition requesting
the establishment of a sick leave bank at UTSI, please stop by the HR office to
sign the petition by Friday, March 5, 2010. If you have any
questions or concerns, please contact Patricia Burks-Jelks at pjelks@utsi.edu or
call ext. 37226.
