Regular part-time employees are those employees hired to positions for a period of 12 months or longer and are regularly scheduled to work less than forty hours per week. Regular part-time employees are eligible for the following benefits on a pro-rata basis: holidays, annual leave, sick leave, court leave, unemployment, workers' compensation, military leave and funeral leave.
TERM EMPLOYEES (FORMERLY DESIGNATED AS TEMPORARY EMPLOYEES)
Term full-time employees are those employees hired to positions having a forty-hour per week work schedule for an employment period expected to be less than 12 months.
Term part-time employees are those employees hired to positions having a less than forty-hour per week work schedule for an employment period expected to be less than 12 months.
Upon initial employment, term employees are eligible for workers' compensation benefits and participate in social security (refer to exceptions in Policy 385, Social Security). Refer to Policy 375, Retirement Plans, for retirement eligibility requirements.
The Human Resources Director will document the reason for retaining an employee in the TERM category after their eligibility for consideration as a regular employee.
